Day of Häjy in Kauhava
Start your morning by admiring the views from the viewing tower of Saarimaa.
Then head towards Kankaankylä in Ylihärmä, where the movie Häjyt and the TV series Hyvien ihmisten kylä were filmed. The Keskikangas House has many häjy stories to tell.
Ylihärmä Regional Museum displays the shackles of the häjy Antti Rannanjärvi.
His gravestone can be found in the old cemetery of the Ylihärmä church. (At the side of the cemetery of Vanha Vaasantie)
Spend the afternoon getting to know Isontalon Antti. His house is located on Knuuttilanraitti street in Alahärmä.
You can find out more about Antti by visiting Alahärmä Regional Museum. There are many things to see and experience in the renovated museum!
Antti Isotalo’s grave is located at the back of the Alahärmä church cemetery, close to the light-coloured building.
Visit the Wanaha talli horse stables and go for an old-fashioned horse carriage ride like the häjys.
You can find out more about the man who brought down the häjys, police chief A. Hägglund, in Kauhava Knife and Textile Museum. The museum also displays information about the different steps and equipment involved in making knives as well as an extensive knife collection that includes old rarities.
