Military memorials
A total of 115 men left from Kauhava during the years 1915-1916 for German to receive military training in order to set their country free. These men become Finnish Jaegers, to whom memorials have been raised around Kauhava.
The oldest memorial stands next to the Kauhava Church and is from 1954. This memorial also serves as a grave stone for seven Jaegers.
The Kortesjärvi Church yard has a memorial from 1958. The OP yard has a memorial commemorating the Suomela Inn which served as a recruitment facility and as a waypoint in the journey abroad.
The Alahärmä Church yard has a Jaeger memorial.
In Voltti, Knuttilanraitti, near the Antti Isotalo house, there is a memorial from 1966 that mentions twelve (12) recruiters from Alahärmä, their assistants and the significance of the Antti Isotalo house as a waypoint on the journey abroad.
The Ylihärmä Church yard has a Jaeger memorial from 1966, as designed by K. Lamminheimo.
