Yarn from the plains

Lankava is based in Kauhava, in the middle of expansive plains, under an endless sky. Lyyli Karppinen and three other strong women founded their company here in 1925. The company is now called Lankava, and Lyyli’s style still lives on in us.

The Lankava of today is a colourful and inspiring world of yarn that evolves, innovates and inspires. The name of our company, Lankava, describes the abundance of yarn that we get to work with: the range of different balls, skeins and cones, and the variety of materials from cotton and linen to mohair, alpaca and traditional sheep’s wool.

We are very busy during the Seinäjoki Handicraft Fair in autumn – indeed, many people have first visited Lankava during that time.
