The Iisakki Jussi Tupa Rural Museum and Kosolanmäki Lainamakasiini exhibition space

Located in Kosolanmäki, Kauhava, the Iisakin Jussin Tupa Rural Museum showcases the Southern Ostrobothnian architectural style of the late 19th century. The main room (“tupa”), chambers, and upstairs are all furnished with original pieces. The master of the house also served as a “fankiföörari,” a local official responsible for holding prisoners before their transport to Vaasa Castle. In addition to the main house, the museum grounds include seven other buildings typical of a rural farmstead.

Also situated in Kosolanmäki, Kauhava, the Lainamakasiini (granary) dates back to the 1850s and remains in its original condition. Today, this granary serves as a versatile space for exhibitions and events, capable of accommodating large displays and works. Both museums are maintained by the Kauhava-Seura ry (Kauhava Association).

Both locations are open by appointment.
