The Finnish Jäger Museum
The Finnish Jäger Museum is the only museum in Finland dedicated specifically to the Jäger Movement, a pivotal chapter in the history of Finnish independence. We welcome you to explore our permanent exhibition!
How and why? Since when and in what way? Where and when?
Through photographs, interviews, videos, and films, you can dive deep into the history of the movement. While all 1897 Jägers are honored here, the exhibition takes a closer look at the thoughts and fates of a few dozen brave young men.
We utilize modern audiovisual technology to bring history to life—experience authentic Jäger training sessions filmed in Lockstedt in 1916. You can also listen to recorded interviews where these “old gentlemen” reminisce about the exciting days of their youth, or browse through original diaries, letters, and postcards from the era.
The museum’s collection features authentic artifacts, including:
- Official documents and Jäger passports
- Uniforms, weapons, and medals
- Currency and battlefield fragments
- Period music and archival footage
