Kotiseututalo Keskikangas – Homeland house Keskikangas

In the middle of the farmlands, by the river of Lapuanjoki, in Kauhava’s Ylihärmä, stands the Kotiseututalo Keskikangas. Kotiseututalo hosts art and other exhibitions. The house itself is unusually old, and the oldest part was built in the 1770s. It was also expanded in the early 19th century, and renovations to the Kotiseututalo itself were completed in the year 2000. Every summer, on the first Sunday at August, yard parties are held there. The performers are often GOOD häjy’s, as you can find wood signs left by real häjy’s at Kotiseututalo. The house has been awarded the South Ostrobothnia Building Heritage Award. The house is maintained by the Kankaan-Ikola village association, Tempaus ry, and a small group of caretakers.
