Härmän Taonta Oy is a family business founded in 1961 by Uuno Puronvarsi, a fourth-generation blacksmith. They have been manufacturing high-quality tools for over 60 years. Uuno learned his craft in his father’s smithy. In its early years, the company produced scythes, sickles, and decorative items. From the 1970s onwards, the focus shifted to garden tools, which were sold through large central retailers. Today, their main products are still scythes and garden tools, but the selection has expanded to include forestry, winter, outdoor, and camping tools. The secret to Härmän Taonta’s longevity lies in decades of accumulated experience and expertise in manufacturing bladed tools. While manufacturing techniques have evolved from traditional forges and anvils, the company still combines traditional, respectful methods with modern approaches to ensure the high quality of its products.

Quality, Finnish origin, and customer satisfaction have always been, and will continue to be, matters of honor for Härmän Taonta Oy. The sixth generation of the Puronvarsi family now continues the business, upholding these core values.
