The lakes and fishing opportunities in the Kauhava area can be found on the Kalapaikka.net. With a general fishing right, you can go fishing with an angling and ice fishing rod, as well as fish with a herring net without a fishing permit. Finland has a fishing fee system based on the Fisheries Act. As a result, fishermen age 18-64 who engage in fishing other than angling and ice fishing must pay a fisheries management fee to the state. The fisherman must be able to prove their age to a fisheries inspector if necessary.

You may also need a site-specific permit, e.g. rainbow trout have been planted in Lake Ojutjärvi and the Kauhava Fishing Society sells fishing permits.
