Day of Häjy in Kauhava

You can start the day by admiring the vast landscapes of Saarimaa from the observation tower and continue your journey to Kankaankylä in Ylihärmä, where the TV series Häjyt ja Hyvien ihmisten kylä was filmed. The Keskikangas boarding house has many spooky stories to tell. The Ylihärmä Homestead Museum displays the chains of Rannanjärvi Antin. Rannanjärvi’s grave is in the old cemetery of Ylihärmä Church.  Isotalo Anttin’s homestead is located on Knuuttilanraitti in Alahärmä. You can learn about Isoo-Anttin’s life at the Alahärmä Homestead Museum. At the end of the Alahärmä Church cemetery, near the light-colored building, is Isoo-Anttin’s grave. You can experience a horse ride like a häjy at the Wanaha’s stables. The Knife and Textile Museum allows you to get to know the “Ugly Vallesmanni of the Terrible”, the master craftsman A. Hägglund, who tamed the Häjys. The museum also presents the different stages of woodcarving.
